Yet for 60 minutes, Wales tore that script apart.
They surged out of the blocks with ferocity, shrugging off an early yellow card to Joe Hawkins and hammering Scotland physically at the gain line. Rhys Carre powered over, Sam Costelow kicked with composure, and the hosts stormed into a 17-5 half-time lead.
