According to a 2003 Variety article, Gandolfini filed a lawsuit against HBO, accusing the network of a breach of contract for failing to notify him of a $20 million agreement with creator David Chase within 10 days.
The book alleges HBO agreed to double Gandolfini's $5 million per season contract in 2001.
