In Dragon Ball, Vegeta was very evil when he first came to Earth. He fought with the Earth Warriors with all his strength. This all-out battle between the two sides resulted in both sides being injured. The Earth Warriors worked together with all their strength, some were injured, some died, and finally they barely won.

Seriously speaking, if Wukong hadn't transformed into a gorilla in the end, the Earth Warriors would have died. In the end, Krillin had a good chance to use Yakikobe's saber to destroy Vegeta, but Wukong stopped him with telepathy and gave him a chance to live.
