Fans of "Law & Order: SVU" are outraged after a recent episode in which Captain Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, defended her own abuser instead of his victims. In the past, Benson's vendetta against sex offenders has been a key part of her character.

Fans on Twitter have criticized the decision, calling it out of character and unbelievable. However, the story between Benson and her abuser is not yet complete, so future episodes may show a different turn of events. If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available through RAINN's National Helpline.
