Long before Steve Buscemi became the actor audiences knew from and , he had a habit he later recalled with embarrassed humor. In New York’s East Village, he would look out for a woman who lived across the street. When he thought she might be heading out or coming home, he grabbed his dog and went for a walk, hoping their paths would cross.
