Akira Toriyama (鳥山明, Toriyama Akira) was born on 5 April 1955 in Aichi, Japan. He is a famous Japanese manga artist, and his best-known work, Arale , and his masterpiece Dragon Ball (龍珠), are extremely popular and widely acclaimed all over the world.
His works are serialised in Shueisha's manga magazine Weekly Shonen JUMP, where he is always ranked number one in popularity, and is one of the absolute ace mainstays of the manga industry. He is very popular with readers of all ages, and also influences many future generations of manga artists, directors and other characters.
