Billie Eilish Stole My Entire High School Beauty Look
2023/11/16

What year is it again? is throwing it back to my high school years with her latest look and I can't tell if it's 2022 or 2002. Eilish hit the red carpet at the Environmental Media Association Awards Gala on October 8 in a Y2K-inspired beauty look that could have stepped right out of my yearbook.

The musician parted her black hair in the middle and pinned her long bangs away from her face with matching black clip barrettes, just as my friends and I did back in the '00s. Eilish pulled the rest of her hair back into a low, undone knot style.

As for her makeup, Eilish kept things simple but impactful. Instead of going full 2000s and tweezing her brows into nothingness (guilty), she kept them full and natural. (Good choice, Billie.) She enhanced her eyes not with a bold smoky eye or shimmer shadow but instead with a deep black liner penciled into her waterline for a punk-inspired look that Avril Lavigne would have rocked back in the day. A touch of liner on the top lids, a subtle flick of mascara and peach lips and cheeks were the finishing touches to Eilish's throwback makeup, the perfect mashup of throwback trends and timeless style.

I absolutely would have worn a similar look to a dance in junior high trying to be "edgy" but classic at the same time, but it looks modern and fresh on Eilish today. (Can someone turn on by KC and Jojo now?)

The past few years have been a time of experimentation for Eilish. The star ditched her neon roots for then went before She played with a pinup aesthetic, and then rocked a at the 2022 Grammys for another Y2K-inspired look.

Eilish is having fun changing up her look and we're having of fun keeping up with the chameleonic musician, especially when she re-ignites fond memories of beauty trends from our pasts.
