The sweeping theme of *Downton Abbey* has become synonymous with the series’ elegance and emotional depth. But as composer John Lunn recently revealed, this iconic music almost didn’t make it into the show. When audiences first hear that melancholic piano refrain and the soaring strings, they instantly enter the world of the Crawley family and their devoted staff.
“When the music started and the original title sequence theme played, everyone clapped,” Lunn recalled of a test screening for the *Downton Abbey* film.
