The Walking Dead: Dead City showrunner Seth Hoffman has revealed that there will be some surprising returning characters in season 3.

As fans already know, the third season of Dead City will include an alternate reality episode – and some of them are worried.

But speaking at the 65th annual Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo, former Walking Dead writer turned showrunner Hoffman assured viewers that they're in safe hands.

He explained that he was a fan of the first three seasons of The Walking Dead before he began writing for it from season 4.

Hoffman told Radio Times and other press: "I hope I can look at it from a fan's perspective and I thought, 'One thing that fans would want to see in this spin-off is characters that maybe we haven't seen for a long time'.
