By the time Seasons 7 and 8 rolled around, the show had outpaced its source material and entered freefall. Fans rallied behind the accusation: David & Dan got in a hurry — plotlines collapsed, logic stretched thin, characters switched sides overnight, and so much emotional payoff felt unearned.
