Jerry Jones Says Cowboys "Don't Need" To Sign Dak Prescott To Contract Extension

Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his deal and while many around the NFL believe the Dallas Cowboys have to sign him to a contract extension to keep him in Dallas and lower his $59.4 million cap hit but Jerry Jones disagrees.

“We don’t need to, but we can if everybody wants to solve it,” the team owner said, per  of the team’s official website.

Dak is coming off his best statistical season of his carer in 2023, completing 69.5 percent of his passes for 4,516 yards, a league-leading 36 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions while leading Dallas to an NFC East title.

The concern has been the lack of playoff success. The Cowboys haven’t been past the Divisional Round since 1995. While many people can’t envision the Cowboys letting Dak Prescott go after 2024, it seems like that’s on the table for Jerry Jones.
