HBO's Game of Thrones spinoff, Aegon's Conquest, is making progress with the addition of writer Mattson Tomlin. The show, which takes a "back to basics" approach, will explore the conquest of Aegon Targaryen and the unification of the Seven Kingdoms under his rule.

Aegon's Conquest is set approximately 100 years before House of the Dragon, another Game of Thrones prequel series. It will showcase the power of House Targaryen and their brutal campaign that led to the destruction of noble houses.
