When viewers first met the child prodigy Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, they were introduced to a quirky, socially awkward genius whose earliest years remained mostly a mystery. What few knew at the time was that Sheldon’s childhood would become the focus of its own series—and that vision came from the actor behind adult Sheldon himself, Jim Parsons.
According to production notes, the development of began in late 2016, when Parsons, reflecting on his own life and the character of Sheldon, approached producers with the notion of exploring Sheldon's younger years.
