Outlander star Sam Heughan has opened up about a dispute he had with the creative team regarding on-screen nudity. He felt betrayed when he was made to do a full frontal scene, believing that it was unnecessary and sexualized the character's traumatic experience.

He ultimately convinced the team to show his character's nude body only in the aftermath of the assault. Heughan, who became a producer on the show in 2019, now prioritizes protecting the actors and finding meaning in intimate scenes.
