As a long-time fan of Downton Abbey, one of the most unforgettable performances for me has always been Maggie Smith's portrayal of Violet Crawley, the formidable Dowager Countess of Grantham.

So, when Julian Fellowes, the show's creator, paid tribute to her following her passing, his words truly resonated with me. Fellowes described Smith as "a truly great actress" and remarked that "we were incredibly fortunate to work with her in the final act of her illustrious career.
