Andre Esterhuizen's much-anticipated return to the Springboks' starting XV was cut dramatically short when he received a red card just two minutes into the game against Portugal. The 30-year-old, previously sidelined in favor of Damian de Allende, was thrust back into action by coach Rassie Erasmus.
The incident that led to Esterhuizen's dismissal occurred almost immediately after the kick-off.
