It was physically difficult just to reach the location. And once they got there, Heughan says, Balfe needed real support to get through it.
The most devastating scene in Outlander's series finale — Claire's grief-stricken moment over Jamie's body on the mountainside — required more than acting talent to pull off.

The location itself was a challenge before filming even began. "It was difficult to physically get on the mountain," Heughan revealed, "and the cast was taken up there in caterpillar-like vehicles.
