The Shelter Was Going to Put Him Down on Friday. He Found His Forever Home on Thursday.
The kennel card said "Day 187." His name was Bruno. A three-year-old chocolate Lab mix with a torn ear and a wagging tail that never once stopped, even after six months of strangers walking past his kennel without slowing down.
Bruno had arrived at the county shelter after his owner lost his home and could no longer care for him. The notes said he was house-trained, good with other dogs, gentle with children, and terrified of thunderstorms. He liked to sleep with his head on a pillow.
