General Hospital fans were left reeling after last Friday's episode, which saw fan-favorite Dr. John Cates (played by the talented Adam J. Harrington) meet a dramatic end, courtesy of two bullets fired by none other than mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Harrington himself took to Twitter on Sunday, confirming the news in a series of heartfelt tweets. "Well @GeneralHospital it was a BLAST, literally!" he wrote, acknowledging the explosive (and fatal) nature of his character's departure.
