By this point, most Outlander fans understood that the final season would make changes. What many of them probably did not expect was for Diana Gabaldon herself to react this sharply to one of them.
After Season 8, Episode 7, “Evidence of Things Not Seen,” killed off Fergus in a devastating print-shop fire, Gabaldon did not soften her response. In an interview after the episode aired, she said the show killed Fergus because the people making it “were too chicken to do it right,” arguing that the series could not bring itself to follow the book version of the tragedy.
