A Disney park is designed to make danger disappear. Mountains are made of concrete and steel, jungle rivers run on carefully planned routes, and the music never seems to stop. For most guests, the illusion works: a day at the park is remembered for fireworks, character photos, and long lines—not emergency sirens.
But every large theme park has another history running beneath the soundtrack. Across decades of operations at Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, deaths have occurred from medical emergencies, drownings, crashes, suicides, workplace incidents, transportation accidents, and, in a smaller number of cases, ride-related failures.
