Former All Blacks scrum-half Justin Marshall has ignited fresh debate around Scott Robertson’s departure by openly questioning whether deeper issues exist within the playing group itself.
While New Zealand Rugby chairman David Kirk has rejected suggestions that the players — and in particular Ardie Savea — were instrumental in Robertson’s sacking, it is widely accepted that the head coach lacked full backing within the squad.
Reports of Savea being “seriously unhappy” with the culture under Robertson have intensified scrutiny, but Marshall argues that the problems facing the All Blacks long predate the former Crusaders coach’s tenure.
