The Elisa Lam Case: The Detail in the Elevator Footage Nobody Has Fully Explained
Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old Canadian student traveling alone when she checked into the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles in late January 2013. She was reported missing on February 1st. Her body was found on February 19th in one of the hotel's rooftop water tanks — a location accessible only through a rooftop door that was alarmed and through a tank hatch that required physical effort to open and close.
The coroner's verdict: accidental drowning. Bipolar disorder noted as a contributing factor in her behavior. The official position has not changed.
The elevator footage — released by the LAPD during the missing persons investigation — shows Elisa in the hotel elevator over a period of approximately four minutes.
