Dragon Ball's Biggest Retcon Made Beerus Canon All the Way Back in Z

However, fans may not realize that the concept of a Destroyer God was actually mentioned earlier in Dragon Ball Z. The series has always featured divine beings, such as the Kais, who played a significant role in the Buu arc.

A hint of the all-powerful Destroyer God was revealed during Gohan's training with the Z sword and his meeting with Elder Kai.

In a comedic moment in Dragon Ball Z Chapter 285, Goku and Gohan accidentally broke the legendary Z sword and released Elder Kai from his prison within the sword.
