This is her story.
For years, I didn’t make hair appointments.
I fit haircuts in when there was time left over—after work, after errands, after taking care of everyone else.
Most of the time, there wasn’t any time left.
I’m in my mid-fifties. I’ve spent a long stretch of my life looking after other people. First my children, then my parents. Somewhere in between, my own needs became flexible. Optional.
