In May 2018, an experienced storm chaser named Dale Hoffmann was filming a large tornado near Dodge City, Kansas when his forward-facing high-resolution camera captured something in the lower rotation of the funnel.

Dale did not notice it at the time — he was managing his vehicle and monitoring the storm's track. He saw it three days later when reviewing footage.
