Actor Adam Goldberg Calls Out Friends For Its ‘Unrealistic’ Lack Of Diversity

The series, created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane, about a close group of friends living in New York City was an instant success when it premiered in 1994.

Since then, Friends has remained a cult classic, even after coming to an end in 2004.

Despite the sitcom being so popular with many, there has been a lot of criticism throughout the years of the show’s lack of diversity, and now one of the stars has spoken out.

New York is known for its diversity, including its variety of cultures, ethnicities, and races. The population of the city is: 31.2% White (Non-Hispanic), 21% Black or African American (Non-Hispanic), 14.

The building is fake. The hostages are role players. The threats are training rounds that sting but don't kill. Everything else — the speed, the violence of action, the split-second decisions about who lives and who doesn't — is completely real. This is where operators are made.

The human being is not naturally a killer. Every military that has studied the question has found the same thing: the default human response to pointing a weapon at another person and pulling the trigger is resistance, not compliance. Building a soldier means overcoming that resistance. The question nobody asks is what that costs.

In 1993, they were young soldiers in a city that was trying to kill them. Some of them made it home. All of them carried Mogadishu home with them. Thirty years later, the men who survived the Battle of the Black Sea are still defined by eighteen hours in a Somali street — and they have very different relationships with that fact.

His job was to save lives, not take them. He carried a medical kit, not a rifle. And when the helicopter went down in enemy territory and everyone else was pinned, he jumped in anyway — because someone needed to, and he was the someone.
