The conversation about Lowrider platforms usually starts and ends with the Impala. The '63, the '64, the '67 convertible. The Impala's place in the culture is secure and deserved. But there is another GM platform that serious builders have been choosing for decades, quietly producing some of the most technically accomplished builds on the show circuit.
The G-Body. Produced by General Motors from 1978 to 1988, covering the Monte Carlo, Cutlass Supreme, Regal, and Malibu among others. Not glamorous in the way the tri-five Chevys or the full-size Impalas are glamorous. Smaller, more compact, with body lines that reward lowering in a way that reads sharp and modern compared to the rounder profiles of the older platforms.
