Some decisions define a man more completely than any trophy ever could. Graham Mourie had already captained the All Blacks to one of the most celebrated achievements in the history of the game. He had led his country through 57 matches as captain, through the pressure of the late 1970s and early 1980s when New Zealand rugby brooked no weakness and forgave no failure.
