Forming a West Coast Swing competitive partnership is, in most cases, a lengthy and deliberate process. Coaches are consulted. Trial rehearsals are scheduled. Both dancers assess compatibility over multiple sessions before committing to the financial and logistical investment of building a competitive routine together.
Thibault Ramirez and his eventual partner did not do it this way.
They had known of each other — the WCS circuit is small enough that everyone knows of everyone — but had never danced together before the night they met at a regional social event in late 2021.
