MADjam — the Mid Atlantic Dance Jam — is the largest West Coast Swing competition in the world. It is held every March in Washington DC, and the Champions Jack & Jill is its most prestigious event. To win at MADjam is, for most WCS competitors, the single most meaningful result a professional can achieve.
For most of its history, the event has been dominated by American dancers. The circuit grew in the United States, the vocabulary was shaped there, and the judging panel has typically been weighted toward American sensibilities about what WCS should look and feel like.
