The Showcase Division in West Coast Swing is where the dance form's most theatrically ambitious work happens. Unlike Classic, which requires 80% swing content and no lifts, Showcase allows greater creative latitude — 60% swing content, lifts permitted, more room for choreographic storytelling.
It is also where the divide between "dance as technical sport" and "dance as performance art" becomes most visible. Some Showcase routines impress through technical precision. A smaller number of them do something harder: they make an audience feel something they didn't expect to feel when they walked into the ballroom.
