The South China Sea is notorious for its danger, with modern-day pirates patrolling its treacherous waters. Yet, 65 years ago, the stakes were much higher, as World War II was being fought across the Pacific. In 1944, two American submarines vanished in the depths of this perilous sea.
Despite the loss, both submarines had survivors, but their wrecks remain undiscovered to this day.
