1. Progressive overload is the non-negotiable driver of adaptation. The body adapts specifically to the demands placed on it and only to demands that exceed its current capacity. Every method of producing strength and size improvement — whether high volume, high intensity, high frequency, or any other variable — works because it creates progressive overload.
2. Compound movements produce superior systemic results. Exercises that involve multiple joints and large amounts of muscle mass — squats, deadlifts, presses, rows, and pull-ups — produce hormonal responses, caloric demands, and neural adaptations that isolation exercises cannot replicate.
