There is a moment in the filming of that Martin Freeman has referenced more than once in interviews — never in full detail, always with a careful pause before he changes the subject.
Freeman, as Watson, had to film the graveside scene. The scene where Watson stands alone at Holmes's grave and speaks to someone he believes is no longer alive. It is one of the most exposed pieces of acting the show required of him — no dialogue partner, no action to hide behind, just a man talking to a stone.
