Most gardeners water their plants when they happen to have time — after work, before bed, whenever the watering can is convenient to pick up. This is completely understandable, and for established plants in open ground it rarely causes serious problems.
But for container plants, seedlings, and any plants dealing with heat stress, disease pressure, or establishment stress, the time of day you water makes a genuine and measurable difference to plant health.
Why morning is best. Watering in the early morning — ideally before 9am — gives plants access to moisture precisely when they need it most.
