Last season’s dramatic conclusion left the 21st District’s Intelligence Unit dismantled — and for many characters, the consequences are already brutal. In the 2025-season premiere “Consequences,” we see what’s left of the team scrambling to rebuild, while fallout from their past misdeeds hits home.
According to showrunner Gwen Sigan and lead actor Jason Beghe, the two characters facing the worst consequences are Kim Burgess and Dante Torres.
Despite being legally married to fellow officer Ruzek, and having no personal involvement in the misconduct, Burgess lost her badge — a punishment many fans (and apparently the showrunner herself) feel isn’t fair.
