A Chance Encounter in the Middle East
In 1942, amidst the turmoil of war, Polish soldiers stationed in Iran stumbled upon an orphaned bear cub. The young cub had lost its mother to hunters and was in a pitiable state. Moved by compassion, the soldiers adopted the cub, naming him Wojtek, which translates to "happy warrior" in Polish.
Wojtek's Integration into Military Life
As Wojtek grew, he became an integral part of the 22nd Artillery Supply Company.
