The March 1 premiere of Marshals — the CBS spinoff of Yellowstone — makes it clear that Kayce Dutton cannot escape the shadow of his father. Though Kevin Costner exited Yellowstone before its conclusion, his character’s legacy is woven throughout the new series’ opening hour.
John Dutton may be gone, but he is far from forgotten.
One of the earliest references comes from Kayce’s former Navy SEAL teammate Pete Calvin, played by Logan Marshall-Green.
