The photographer was lovely. The studio was professional. My dog, a four-year-old golden retriever named Benson, approached the session with the energy of someone who had been told nothing about what was expected of him and had independently decided that what was expected of him was chaos.
Lesson 1: "He's usually so calm at home" is not a useful thing to say to a photographer. I said it six times. She was gracious about it each time. Benson, who is in fact calm at home, appeared to be running on a fuel source I cannot identify, making sustained eye contact with a reflective equipment case instead of the camera, and at one point attempting to sit on the photographer's foot.
