In 1865, King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy and his mistress Rosa Vercellana.

Their relationship began when Rosa was 14 years old and she remained the king's mistress for more than 30 years. He did not marry her until two months before his death.

In 1888, the graves of a Catholic wife and her Protestant husband were separated by a wall in the Netherlands.

On October 22, 1895, a train entering the Gare Montparnasse in Paris was so fast that it failed to brake before crashing through a wall and into the street below, as shown in the accident scene.
