The creator of The Crown, Peter Morgan, recently explained his decision to end the series with season 6 set in 2005. Since its debut on Netflix in 2016, The Crown has spanned six seasons, with the final installment, part 2, recently premiering on the streaming platform.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Morgan defended his choice to conclude the show at that point, stating that he wanted to maintain a certain distance from the present day while still delivering a satisfying ending. By concluding The Crown in 2005, Morgan sought to craft a narrative that would offer closure to viewers without delving into more recent events.
