Days of our Lives viewers first met Gwen Rizczech as Claire's mental hospital roommate. She soon became a popular character and developed a life outside of the hospital. However, the introduction of Gwen's character was rushed, and her connections to other Salem players were not well-established.

Her storylines involving love interests and family relationships were poorly received by the audience. Despite this, the show has offered actress Emily O'Brien a second role on the show.
